About New River Head
New River Head is a central London residential estate with a Grade 2* listed Beaux-Arts building of 129 apartments, the Oak Room, and extensive common areas including large gardens. On-site staff help ensure safety and security, aided by modern access control and CCTV. NRH also has step-free access; a small but well-equipped gym; and a secure garage with a fast EV charger.
NRH has been managed since 2004 by a Right to Manage company with a Board of volunteer Directors nominated by leaseholders. A reserve fund is maintained to help “smooth” demands on leaseholders for major projects. Works are overseen by an experienced on-site Building Manager. Recent examples include the replacement of all lifts and major energy efficiency gains. The Board is supported by a managing agent and specialist consultants.
Buildings
New River Head is an historic site located adjacent to Sadler’s Wells Theatre on Rosebery Avenue in Clerkenwell. Originally it was the London terminus of the New River, an artificial watercourse opened in 1613 to supply water to London. The New River can still be seen in, for example, Finsbury Park and there is a New River Path which follows its route.
The site subsequently became the headquarters of the New River Company, which was later acquired by the Metropolitan Water Board. The headquarters building was originally constructed in around 1920 and was converted into apartments in 1995-98. Another part of the original site will soon become the new home for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration.

Transport & Schools
New River Head is well serviced by transport facilities including three bus lines (with night buses) outside the building; Farringdon and Angel stations within 15 minutes’ walk; and Kings Cross and Euston less than 20 minutes by public transport. The A1 road to the north of London and beyond starts near NRH.
The iconic Exmouth Market is across the street, with the Angel and Upper Street a short walk away.
There are primary, secondary and sixth form schools nearby. All the major London universities are within easy travelling distance, as indeed are the West End and City.
